About the Product
We build a spiritual wellness app, live on iOS and Android, with a growing base of paying subscribers. It pairs guided content with narrated audio and short daily practices. Small team, real users, no bureaucracy.
We're hiring one developer for a focused three months: clear the maintenance backlog, and roll the app out in seven new languages.
The Role
Two mandates, both hands-on. You write the code, you ship it, you watch it in production. You'll work directly with the founder — short feedback loops, decisions in hours not weeks.
1. Stability and backlog
Bug fixes, crash triage, performance, offline and audio playback reliability, dependency and OS-version upgrades. Own the release process end to end: builds, TestFlight, App Store and Play Store submissions, review responses, staged rollouts. Maintain in-app subscriptions and paywalls — entitlements, restore flows, edge cases.
2. Language expansion — seven languages
We supply the translated content ourselves. The full content corpus is already translated (or in progress) in-house. You are not doing translation work. You are building the system that serves it.
Target languages: Spanish, French, Italian, German, Russian, Portuguese, Hebrew.
That means:
- The i18n layer — string externalization, keys, pluralization, locale detection and switching, date/number formats
- Handling text expansion — German and Russian run 30%+ longer than English and will break layouts that were designed for English. Finding and fixing those is a real part of the job.
- The content pipeline — per-locale content queries and graceful fallback when a story or audio file isn't yet available in a language
- Localized audio — multiple voice tracks per locale, caching, fallback
- Per-market store listings, screenshots, metadata, and regional pricing tiers
- Making it possible to add a new language without a code change
- Hebrew is right-to-left. It ships last. RTL experience is a plus, not a requirement — but you should be comfortable learning it and using React Native's built-in RTL support.
Milestones
Scope is milestone-gated, not hours-based.
Week Deliverable 1–3 Backlog triage, crash and performance fixes, i18n layer + string externalization 4–6 Spanish, French, Italian live end-to-end — content, audio, layout 7–9 German, Russian, Portuguese — including layout fixes for text expansion 10 Documentation & handover — setup, architecture, runbook. Store listings and regional pricing shipped. 11–12 Hebrew (RTL), or backlog overflow Requirements
Must have
- 3+ years shipping production mobile apps
- At least one app you personally took through App Store and Play Store review
- Strong React Native / Expo and TypeScript
- Real, shipped i18n experience — you've launched an app in multiple languages and know where it breaks. Not "I've used i18next once."
- Hands-on with mobile subscriptions and IAP (RevenueCat, StoreKit, or Play Billing)
- Experience with a Postgres/REST or BaaS backend (Supabase, Firebase, or similar)
- Tests on real devices before shipping — "works on my machine" isn't done
- Fluent English; disciplined enough to work independently without daily supervision
Nice to have
- RTL / Hebrew or Arabic layout experience
- Audio-heavy app experience — streaming, caching, background playback, lock-screen controls
- Push notifications (APNs, FCM)
- App store review or metadata compliance across markets
- Sensitivity to religious or spiritual content — you should be able to handle it with care, whatever your own background
Terms
- 3-month fixed-term contract, remote, working in full-time capacity
- First month is probationary — 2 weeks' notice either side
- Compensation: [range] for the full term, paid monthly against milestones
- All work product and IP assigned to the company
- Documentation and handover are contractual deliverables, due at week 10
- Extension to an ongoing maintenance retainer available; decided in week 10
To Apply
Send:
- Links to apps you've shipped — especially anything multilingual
- A short note on the hardest localization problem you've solved and how you found it
- GitHub or a code sample, if you can share one

DevOps Consultant!! MERN Stack Project Manager – Systems (Enterprise or Solutions) Architect needed!
Hello superstar,
I appreciate you taking time to read this. I have posted a job for developers to work on a start-up, the link is ......
I would need someone with DevOps experience, to ensure that the project is undertaken with the highest standards possible. I have had many experiences where ‘completed’ software after years of development was filled with bugs and it would be more cost-effective to start from scratch than to attempt to find and correct all the bugs.
I have attempted to learn as much as possible, but I now have an opportunity and it would better serve the venture to have someone handle the management of the project to ensure that;
- We choose the most appropriate technology
- We choose competent developers in those technologies
- The architecture and data modeling are clearly defined in a ‘blueprint’ plan
- A DevOps environment and processes are set up and the developers understand what is required
- Proper tests are carried out to ensure everything works as intended
- There are processes for testers to follow and competent testers are selected to follow them
- Accessibility, localization, and internationalization are planned ahead of time
- Security, scalability, and other future probabilities that I may not even be aware of are considered and planned ahead of time
- Documentation and code reviews, refactoring and other quality assurance processes are undertaken
- Working software is produced and systems that enable new developers or teams of people to easily take over and/or contribute new modules or updates in a controlled and organized fashion
- Cost estimates or budgets/projections or use of SaaS, hosting and other 3rd party services and applications
I am more concerned with a professional and world-class organizational system than with any particular type of software been produced as the strong foundation will enable anything to be creating with efficacy and precision.
Again, thank you for reading this, please reply with the word “superstar” anywhere in the second line of your response. I look forward to hearing from you.
Warm wishes DevOps Evangelist,
